No, because we have a puritanical nation, and we have to
protect ourselves against subsersives.
No, it isn't a strawman. He had no way of knowing whether
she was a spy or not, and he didn't care. All he cared about
was getting rid of his hardon. He never gave the national
interest any thought at all, or he wouldn't have been doing
what he was doing.

He said he was DIAGNOSED as deaf. It could have been a
MISdiagnosis. He might have something wrong with the
language part of his brain, like my Louie's autism. The
jury is out on him, so far as I'm concerned. I don't have
enough data to know whether he is a troll or not, but until
I do, I'll give him the benefit of a doubt.
This damn freaking echo
You are assuming that he just has the one problem (that he's lying
about). Often people with one disability have others. People with
multiple disabilities (especially if one of them is mental), are
rare; it is much more common for the mentally disabled to have other
problems, also, one of which may well be a hearing defect.
I see no harm in taking his word for it until we have more evidence
to the contrary. I can see where you're

I've been reading his posts, and reading the reaction of others.
I am much more bothered by the reaction of others than I am by
what he has posted, despite the fact that he seems to demand
respect that I'm not sure is deserved.
Can you show me where I didn't give Ronald the benefit of a doubt?
I'm not at all sure you can. I don't recall doing anything much more
than hanging back and letting the thing unfold

No, I'm saying that that one behavior has pushed one of your
buttons. It's time for you to step back a notch and ask
yourself why you are in this much of a huff when somebody
else demonstrates that same behavior for what is probably
an altogether different reason.
I am not foisting any tautology off on anybody. Step back,
take a deep breath, count to ten, and ignore the alarm that
rang when that button was pushed.

I didn't say you were. I said that you had ONE CHARACTERISTIC
that reminded her of her sociopathic son. That one characteristic
is the chip on your shoulder and defensiveness you demonstrate
in this very message you sent me. We all give each other the
benefit of a doubt. There is nothign insulting about doing that.
It is the kind thing to do.
I don't know whether your problem is serious or not, but it
appears it is serious enough
This damn freaking echo
That's always a possibility. But having decided to give him
the benefit of a doubt, I'll wait for more evidence, one way
or the other. Why think the worst of somebody, just because
you don't like the defenses they've built up around what is
obviously a severe deficiency?
This is a good 'un :)
Yes, as a matter of fact, I have. I think I was 14 or 15, and
it might have been the first 'grown-up' book I was allowed to
read. I liked it so much I later read 'My Gun is Quick,' and
several others written by him.
A kid'll do anything, if they think it makes them grown
up. <grin>

What I saw in those posts was somebody with a severe
language problem. I can't determine via a noisy echo
what that problem is, but its existence is beyond question.
I suspect the problem in part stems from being shut off
from the world via his deafness, and in part from having
never heard proper syntax until the language portion of
his brain was already matured. Much of what we learn of
the language we learn from hearing others speak.
This damn freaking echo
So take it out on them, not him. I don't really hear anybody
telling him to go right ahead and make an ass of himself, what
I see is people saying 'keep posting, so we can help you with
your language problem.' They can't help him by blasting him,
now, can they?
This damn freaking echo
Respect is something you earn. Demanding it will usually
get you the opposite of it.
This damn freaking echo
If you really want respect, you could start off by saying
that you know you have trouble with the language, and you
are here to practice so you'll get better. Instead of that,
you started off by saying that if we didn't like the way
you wrote, we ought to get an education. Not a very good
start for somebody who says he wants respect. It is not
necessarily a good idea to return in kind when you are new
This damn freaking echo
But I'm not the one who pounded you about your writing, so I
didn't deserve any defensiveness, now, did I?
Maybe a good place for you to start is to practice being nice to
those who are nice to you, even when it is immediately after
somebody else has been nasty to you.
It is your inability to use language well that is the serious
problem, not your hearing. We'd have no way of knowing whether you
can hear well
This damn freaking echo
I haven't said I'll defend it. I have implied (not said)
that we don't have enough evidence to call him names. I'll
stick by that statement until further notice. And, **I'll**
decide when I have enough evidence.
I haven't seen any contradictions. If his posts are as
hard for you to interpret as you claim, then the contradictions
you claim are there may be nothing more than your inability to
grep what he is saying.

Interestingly enough, I was doubfounded to find out that a HUGE
percentage of young people agree with Billy-Bob that oral sex
is not a sexual relationship; you have to have sexual intercourse
in order to have a sexual relationship. In fact, young women are
apparently giving oral sex to avoid pregnancy and to leave their
hymen intact. One survey revealed that about a third of the
people questioned to not regard oral sex as a sex act.

I didn't necessarily think that the USPO was subsidized, just
that the fat cat applied some pressure (perhaps on Congress)
to get super-duper rates for books.

That hardly seems like a stretch.
