a hint, please?

Judith, while I do not have the original of Lon's post, I do have a post
in which it was quoted. I have also found the message from Jim surprisingly enough, that one was to me (I knew I was severely backed up
in messages, but I guess I haven't even read all of the ones addressed to
me):

I mentioned it to him Saturday at our breakfast with the computer gang
and he..uh...chuckled at the thought of the echo retribution...besides,

Explosive Ordnance Disposal. They do everything from diffusing terrorist
style homemade explosives, to safely disposing of explosive debris from
plane crashes, to gathering and getting rid of the junk that the pilots
drop during practice. Depending on which branch of the service you go into

in the level of independence one has in making decisions. Not surprisingly,

*sigh* Unfortunately, true...but it is still vital that parents find out
first hand what is going on in their kids schools, and much of the RUMOR
that passes through the fundy community is based on gross misunderstanding.
Rather then spread the rumor, it would be much more to the point to find
out for herself. I can't begin to tell you the sort of strange interpretations
of events I've heard from people who weren't there about things where I

Apparently you not only have no right to celebrate the secular side
of
our winter holiday (darn it, Luke, you'll simply have to MOVE the time of
the
Winter Solstice and get it away from Christmas!!), but you also have no
right
to your OWN religious practices. And no, you are not True Pagans (TM),
because Jesse says there AREN'T any.

And why do I have the awful feeling that he's seriously going to sit by

I am reading an interesting book I found called "And There Was Light" by
Rudolf Thiel, about the history of astronomy. In the first chapter, it
discusses the various calendars developed by the ancient cultures. Among
the interesting observations is that the Egyptians used the flooding of
the
Nile to mark the change of the year apparently the Nile floods so
regularly each summer that they could fairly accurately set their calendars
by it. It got me to thinking,

Leo's right. I developed an appreciation for good beer while in Germany.
I about croaked the first time I tasted an American brew, and even Heineken
tastes flat.
In my case, wine makes me nauseous I can deal with about a half a glass
and that's all. Since George comes from the Santa Rosa, CA area, he prefers
a good bottle of wine to beer. I have to take his word for it that it is
"good" wine or

Uh, Bethann? David is not a Christian. All spiritual views are questioned
here, not just those of a theistic nature. In PODS, your beliefs would
be
given the benefit of the doubt. In (some) Christian echos, mine would be.
Here, no religious view is exempt from scrutiny. Once you realize that,
however, you may find that it is a valuable place to explore your own
assumptions as well as learn about other POVs in an arena where one is

Seriously, I agree with you but you'd be surprised at the vehemence some
Christians who would NOT consider themselves White Extremists expressed
when
artwork began showing up that portrayed Jesus other than as a blondhaired,
blue-eyed hippie. Since there is no physical description given for Jesus
at all, it makes sense that he would have had the dark features of the region
into which he was born.

I think I have gotten a couple but I am hopelessly backed up. We are
currently in the middle of being snowed in, which means that the couple
of
days of QUIET which I had planned to try to catch up a little is instead
filled with a houseful of kids and a husband who is getting a little crazy
eyed whenever he thinks about the work that's getting backlogged up at the

I am very glad to hear David describe his reaction to what she says, because
I have not been trusting of my own reactions to her because, as you
describe, reading her tripe almost literally sends me back there. Hearing
it
from David (who does NOT share that problem) helps convince me that my
revulsion is justified.

Right. I don't see anything wrong with sex outdoors (unless it's on your
neighbors lawn without their permission, of course), but there is no
justification for "cheating" which implies a deliberate attempt to
deceive your spouse, from either a Christian standpoint, OR from any view
which values honor and honesty. I found it hideous that he would attempt
to justify those echos by dragging in God as co-conspirator.

Not a compliment simply a statement of fact, which you've confirmed.
Don't read anything more to it then that it was a neutral description
of your views.
I suppose you'll simply have to decide whether to take me at my word on

or not. I see many things from you that are insulting (IMO) to God, and
a gross twisting of Jesus' words into the pettiest justification for bigotry
and spite. But I will not question whether
